Historically, Atasehir does not have a deep historical past like other Istanbul districts, as it is a newer residential area.

• Nezahat Gokyigit Botanical Garden

It was founded  in 1995 by Ali Nihat Gokyigit to create a 46-hectare memorial park in memory of  his wife Nezahat Gokyigit.

Initially, plans for planting and afforestation were implemented for the purpose of a "memorial park".

Later, studies were started in line with the goal of becoming a botanical garden and it was opened to visitors in 2002.

In 2003, its name was changed to "Nezahat Gokyigit Botanical Garden".

Nezahat Gokyigit Botanical Garden includes seven different areas, each of which is home to different plant species.

Some varieties of plants found in the garden are: currant, honeysuckle, sakura trees, dye plants, chestnut, highland pelit, gunpowder tree, primrose, kumar, rhododendron, azalea and many more plants.

Ertugrul Martyrs Monument: was built in 1890 on the 2nd floor. It is a monument erected in memory of 527 sailors who were martyred on the Ertugrul Frigate, which went to Japan by the order of Abdulhamid and sank on the way back.

This monument is one of the important areas within the Nezahat Gokyigit Botanical Garden.

Nezahat Gokyigit Botanical Garden has become an indispensable place for plant and garden lovers.
