The history of Sultanbeyli dates back to the Roman and Byzantine Empires.

Covering the area from Uskudar to Gebze, it became the "tekfur" property administration center.

After Flipson's death, the lands sold by his heirs turned into the lands owned by today's shareholders.

In 1945, some of the immigrants from Bulgaria were settled in Sultanbeyli.

Rapid construction activities between 1985 and 1987 contributed to the current state of Sultanbeyli.

The decision to establish a municipality in Sultanbeyli was taken on December 31, 1987 and the first municipal elections were held on December 26, 1989.

In 1992, Sultanbeyli gained the status of a district.
